Welcoming Touches That Make Guests Feel Special
- Fresh towels: fold a set at the foot of the bed or roll them in a basket in the bathroom.
- A light, pleasant scent: a candle, diffuser, or simmering pot with orange slices and cinnamon. Keep it subtle, and skip it if a guest is sensitive to fragrance.
- Warm lighting: lamps instead of overhead lights feel cozier, and a nightlight helps guests find their way at night.
- A drinks station: set out water, a couple of drinks, cups, and ice so guests can help themselves without asking.
- A guest basket: travel-size toiletries, a toothbrush, makeup wipes, and a few snacks.
- A Wi-Fi card: so nobody has to ask. Details below.
- A small note: a handwritten "We're so glad you're here!" goes a long way.
Wi-Fi made easy
- Put it on the nightstand: a small framed or printed card with the network name and password.
- Add a QR code: many phones and routers can create a code guests scan to join in one tap.
- Set up a guest network if your router supports it, so guests stay off your main network.
- Keep the password easy to type: skip characters that look alike, like a capital I and a lowercase l, or a zero and the letter O.
A mini fridge for the guest room
- Easy to reach: stock bottled water up front so guests can grab one at night.
- A few drinks: a couple of favorites, like sparkling water, juice, or soda.
- Grab-and-go snacks: granola bars, fruit cups, or trail mix nearby.
- Check first: ask about allergies and preferences before you shop.
